Built by Jeff Stubbs 35yrs ago, Linda has been a regular performer on the Thornes Park Minature Railway ever since. Now in the trusty hands of Dave Philips, he takes us for a lap around the park on board the loco.

Leeds is famed for its role in Locomotive building, with one of the biggest companies, Hunslet, celebrating 150yrs. The Middleton Railway did not disappoint in there celebrations, with history been made more than once.

Schneider Electric now occupy the site where Hunslet Works once stood, with the offices still standing. 2 narrow gauge locos were brought back to their place of birth to take part in the celebrations and can be seen at the beginning of the video.
The 2 locos are:
-Irish Mail Dinorwic Quarry No. 823 of 1903
-Trangkil No.4 No. 3902 of 1971

Back at the Middleton Railway, 3 visiting steam locomotives were in action, as well as 2 of the resident diesels.
The visiting locos were:
-Beatrice Hunslet No. 2705 of 1945
-NCB No. 66 Hunslet Austerity 3890 of 1964
-East Fife Area No. 19 Hunslet Austerity No. 3818 of 1954

Another one of Tony Bickerstaffs wonderfully made locos, a BR Standard 7mt Brittania, No.70008 'Black Prince' goes for a spin around Thornes Park Minature Railway

The Elsecar Heritage Railway is not often spoken about, and often unheard of. But it is a true little gem, a fantastic line with some challenging inclines.

The locos featured in this are:
- Resident Sentinel Diesel No.138C, which since arriving at the railway has been named 'Elizabeth'.
- Long term visitor Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns Ltd 0-4-0 No.7386 'Birkenhead'

The day itself didn't go to plan, with a few issues with the filming equipment and accessories, so a return visit is currently been arranged.

The Middleton Railway in Leeds is a steeply graded line. The incline reaches peaks of around 1in45. This can prove to be quite challenging at times. Here we see Manning Wardle No.1601 'Matthew Murray' battling the gradient.
