NBC 5 Chicago's Making a Difference Segment - July 10, 2017
LeeAnn Trotter explains how children with craniofacial differences benefit from the care provided by the UI Health Craniofacial Center, which currently treats approximately 1500 patients, and Face the Future Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to such care so that no child is ever turned away from the Center due to an inability to pay.
Dr. Mimis Cohen explains that craniofacial differences often contribute to speech difficulties, ear infections, hearing loss, dental problems, and more. At the Craniofacial Center, a team of specialists work together to provide comprehensive care for their patients under one roof.
Patients Hipolito Arrieta and Melanie Albers discuss their progress following a long series of surgeries. For children born with craniofacial differences, surgical treatment commonly begins at only 3 months old.
